ABOUT ME

Hello, I’m Özge Aydoğan, founder of Alya Doula Services. My journey began the moment my daughter was born, opening a brand new chapter in my heart and mind. During my own birth experience, I felt firsthand how alone and unsupported a woman can feel in this most special moment. That was the moment I felt a deep sense of responsibility to be part of the change, throughout this sacred process from pregnancy to newborn care.

My approach, shaped by the comprehensive training I have received, is built on one fundamental truth: trusting the wisdom of nature and the strength of our bodies. The human body is a remarkable design down to every cell, and every cell has a meaning and a purpose. This principle applies to pregnancy, birth, newborn care and everything that follows.

Working as a nurse in Turkey for 15 years, particularly in maternity and newborn units, taught me once again just how delicate this process is. To bring professional expertise to this passion, I completed my Certified Birth Educator, Birth and Postpartum Doula training through the Hypnobirthing Institute and the Istanbul Birth Academy. I also earned my qualifications as a Breastfeeding Support Specialist and Counsellor, an IPF-certified Prenatal and Birth Pilates Instructor, and an IAIM Baby Massage Instructor, so I could offer families the most comprehensive support possible.

Our aim is to provide families with gentle, holistic support, to educate parents in parenting, and to help them have a positive birth experience — so that they can begin this exciting journey fully informed and with confidence.

What is a Doula?

What is a Doula?

Doulas are non-medical professionals trained to support families through pregnancy-related experiences such as birth, miscarriage or stillbirth. Birth and postpartum doulas are professionals who support and assist families through this process, helping to ease the new life that arrives with the baby. Scientific studies examining doula-supported care show that having a doula significantly improves physical and psychological outcomes for both mother and baby. Doulas have a positive effect on the wellbeing of the whole family. Doulas are people who provide you with emotional and physical support during your pregnancy and birth. Doulas are not medical professionals. They are not responsible for delivering the baby or providing medical care. A certified doula completes a training programme on how to support pregnant women and their families through this exciting yet challenging experience, and goes through a series of training sessions.
